Challenges: Project complexity and blog migration
Foxglove’s project began with a need for a simple landing page for a conference. However, they quickly saw the potential in working with Flowout, and our collaboration expanded into a full migration of their website from a custom Next.js setup to Webflow. Foxglove wanted to transition to Webflow for better organization, easier management, and improved content flexibility, but they needed to maintain the excellent performance of their original custom-scripted site.
The primary challenge was migrating over 120 blog posts that were custom-coded within their GitHub, while maintaining optimal site performance. Additionally, we had to ensure that the new site was as intuitive as possible, enabling Foxglove’s non-technical team to easily manage content and updates.
Our solution
We started by converting Foxglove’s existing Figma designs into a fully functional Webflow site. Throughout the project, we worked closely with their design team, regularly adding new designs and refining existing elements to ensure a seamless transition. Our approach prioritized flexibility and ease of use, allowing their team to manage the site independently after the migration.
One of the main tasks was migrating blog content from custom code to Webflow collections, handling complex nested relations to make the blog easy to navigate. While Webflow had some limitations compared to their custom Next.js setup, we implemented several advanced optimizations to overcome them and enhance performance. These efforts resulted in a 99% speed score on desktop and an 83% score on mobile for their homepage, with further improvements in the pipeline.
We completed the project ahead of schedule, giving Foxglove enough time to test and refine their new website before going live.
Migration from Next.js
Migrating a custom-scripted site like Foxglove’s required extensive planning and attention to detail. Over 120 blog posts were carefully exported and adapted to fit Webflow’s environment, ensuring all content, embeds, and inline elements displayed correctly. Additionally, we focused on preserving the high performance standards they had with their previous site, making custom optimizations to boost load times and enhance user experience.
"They felt like a part of our team from day one."
Thanks to Flowout, the client gained a fully redesigned website and increased their performance score to 90–100. Their page accessibility score also rose to above 90. The team managed the engagement effectively and communicated well with the client. Their resources were adaptable and knowledgeable.
The results
Foxglove’s new website launched within two months, offering a fresh, streamlined user experience that is easier to manage and maintain. The migration to Webflow has enabled their team to update content, launch marketing campaigns, and implement design changes quickly and effortlessly, without relying on developers.
Since moving to Webflow, Foxglove has enjoyed a more agile approach to content management, scaling their initiatives with speed and precision. They were particularly impressed with how we handled the migration, turning complex custom setups into intuitive, easy-to-use solutions. Our optimizations ensured that the site maintained a high level of performance, successfully replacing their previous custom Next.js implementation.
Ongoing partnership
Following the success of the migration, Foxglove decided to extend our collaboration, retaining Flowout as their ongoing Webflow partner. We continue to support their team by maintaining and optimizing the site, creating new landing pages, and implementing solutions to further enhance performance. No matter how their needs evolve, Foxglove can rely on us to be a consistent, strategic partner.
